John Heitinga has extended his contract with Ajax to 30 June 2011. ,,I have played for Ajax since I was seven years old and I feel I am a real club man’’, said the 23-year old defender after signing his new deal.

His old contyract ran to 1 July 2008. The new deal will start on 1 July 2007. With his extension, the defender and sometimes midfielder chooses certainty and peace of mind. ,,I can still develop further at Ajax, grow more’’, said Heitinga. ,,My goal for the next few years is to win trophies with Ajax. I have a good feeling about this coaching staff and this team. It's not time to go abroad yet.’’
